I am an amateur photographer and was born in Bakersfield, CA in 1948. I was inspired by Edward Weston’s “Daybooks” which I read while a student at the University of Notre Dame from 1966-1970. The photos on this website were taken with a Nikon D2x, but I spent years with an 8x10 view camera in Ireland and a Hasselblad, working with contact prints in a darkroom
Photography is the art of creating an image with light, but it is also a three-way relationship: the photographer to the subject matter, and the subject matter with the viewer. This also forms a connection between the photographer and the viewer.
To the extent that you enjoy these photos, you relate to me and I to you. You see a moment in time that I did, and perhaps you bring your own life experiences to the photo that I do not and thus, you see the image differently. It’s an honor to share my visions with you.
